The Best Food for Your Dog

Deciding on the type of dog food you provide is one of the most important decisions you will ever make for your puppy or dog. The nutrition you feed your dog influences every aspect of his or her life. Factors like how puppies grow, their behaviour, habits, health, overall well-being and appearance are all closely connected to the nutrition we provide– it's a big responsibility!

We know it can be confusing to choose a dog food, as there are so many brands and types on the market, but it doesn’t have to be this way! Picking a dog food is easy once you know what you’re looking for…

Wet Dog Food:
Wet food is very palatable – however – wet food is very soft as it is made up of around 80% water! This means your dog won’t get enough nutrients, and the food won’t be hard enough to support the development of his teeth and gums. A good quality wet food is always great when mixed in with dry dog food to give your dog a variety of flavours and textures. See our range of nutritious wet food that your dog will love!

Dry Dog Food:
Premium brand dry food is always a good option! It usually contains the right amount of protein that is vital for your dog’s well-being. One of the most well-balanced dog foods that we stock is the Barking Heads premium dog food brand. They offer specific options for large breed dogs, puppies, older dogs, overweight dogs and fussy eaters! Ask any member of Petworld staff what the best dog food for your pooch would be.

Raw Dog Food:
Raw food is also a fantastic option. Either a dry food or a raw food should be the staple diet for your dog, with a mix of wet food every few days for a touch of variety. Come in and ask any member of staff about our incredible “Nature’s Menu” raw frozen food brand. It’s 100% natural with cuts of the best meat available!

If you need help with choosing a brand or stage of dog food (puppy, adult, mature etc.) don’t hesitate to ask the advice of any member of Petworld staff or email your question to orders@petworlddirect.ie. We will always be happy to inform you on what is best for you, and your dog!
